I typically roam about the lake looking for interesting shots to emerge as boats move about. As soon as I saw the sunlight across the water, I knew I had to frame a sailboat crossing it. I positioned myself to get the outcropping of land on the left to balance the composition, then waited for one to cross the frame perpendicularly to the ray of sun to frame the sails.
