🏁 Lifting weights isn't a race, or competition to see who can finish their set first. 🔢 You don't get any bonus points for going fast. ✔ But, you do get bonus points for lifting in a controlled, effective manner. ☡ The squat is an exercise which often gets done with poor form. The benefits of adding a pause are:
💯 Minimal variation of each rep. Every rep looks and feels the same.
💯 Improved posture and upper back strength due to holding the weight for longer.
💯 Longer muscle activation of the thighs as each rep is now prolonged with a pause.
💯 Better motor control and efficiency of the squat pattern as you have to go to a specific tempo.
